WCRF Announces 4th Quarter Municipal Grants


Washington, IA.   The Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) is pleased to announce 9 fourth quarter city grant awards totaling $193,269.19 through its Municipal Grant program.

WCRF Municipal Grant program distributes 25% of its total revenues directly to the cities in Washington County based on population.  In 2011 WCRF distributed $841,885.99 to the nine cities in Washington County and $4,271,743.47 since its inception.  These funds are programmed by each City Council.

Washington County Riverboat Foundation Announces Fall 2011 Grants

The Board of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation met on November 16th and announced their Fall 2011 Grant Award recipients. There were 34 grants totaling $653,837. To view the list of winners click here.

Grant Award Recommendations to Be Presented at Our Next Meeting

The Grant Review Committee has finalized their recommendations to the board.  Their recommendations will be voted on by the entire board at the next meeting. Email invitations have been sent to those people whose grant applications will be recommended.  It’s important to note however that nothing is final until the board votes.  The meeting is Wednesday, November 16 in the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort Events Center at 6:00pm.  You can view the agenda by clicking here.

WCRF Announces Fall 2011 Grant Applicants

The submission period for Fall 2011 grant applications ended Thursday October 6th. The Washington County Riverboat Foundation received 80 applications asking for $2,086,655.  To see a list of grant applicants click here.  The copies of the applications are now in the hands of the directors who have about 2 weeks to review them.  After they are done the Grant Review Committee will meet to narrow down the applications.

WCRF Announces 3rd Quarter Municipal Grants

  The Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) is pleased to announce 9 third quarter city grant awards totaling $221,183.09 through its Municipal Grant program. This now puts the total of Municipal Grants over $4,000,000.

WCRF Municipal Grant program distributes 25% of its total revenues directly to the cities in Washington County based on population.  In 2011 WCRF has distributed $648,616.80 to the nine cities in Washington County and over $4,078,474 since its inception.  These funds are programmed by each City Council.

Grant Application Tips

Grant Applications are due in our office by 5:00pm on October 6, 2011. Some things that it will be helpful to remember in the process are:
  1. Submit your application as early as possible. By doing this we have a chance to look over your application for any errors or missing documentation.
  2. Only attached tax documents, Certificate of Standing, and IRS Non-profit determination letter to the original not the copies
  3. If you are submitting a resolution from a governing body (schools, government) only attach it to the original.
  4. Staple all applications. No paper clips, etc.
  5. Remember the application should be in its original form.  (No colored paper, plastic covers, folders, or cover sheets. Do not reformat this application form.
  6. Remember its 15 copies and 1 original for a total of 16 applications
  7. When submitting an electronic copy do it in word format.

WCRF Receives Largest Check Since Its Inception

The Washington County Riverboat Foundation has just received its largest monthly check from the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.  The check for July was $371,577.80 the largest amount since the Casino opened in August 2006.  President Tim Putney (shown below receiving the check from Dan Franz the GM of Riverside Casino and Golf Resort) said “I am extremely pleased that the Riverside Casino is having a great year. We will be able to fund more organizations and projects as a result of this”

Since its founding the Washington County Riverboat Foundation has awarded over $17 Million for over 400 projects to non profit organizations, schools, and local governments in Washington County and surrounding areas. Those funds have leveraged over $100 Million in project matching funds.
